SURESH GANDHI

Chairman

A stalwart in the realm of construction, Mr. Gandhi is also a certified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He started his sojourn in the real estate business with the Kalpataru Group in 1972 and since gathered experience of vast depths. Over his 36 year stint, prior to establishing Essgee, he was instrumental to enabling Kalpataru establish themselves not only on the Indian subcontinent, but also across the Middle East.

He was Director on Kalpataru Power and was Managing Director of Caprihans. He still serves on the board of Caprihans, which is now a part INEOS Films Group. Mr. Gandhi's other accolades include an active member of the Managing Committee for the Organisation of Plastic Processors of India; Chairman of the Plastics & Linoleum Export Promotion Council; Vice President of the Plastindia Foundation.

However his most cherished distinctions are far from his business successes. He takes great pride in being a socially responsible citizen and enjoys a lengthy relationship with the Manav Foundation and the Rotary Club. He is a ‘Trustee' on the Board of the Manav Foundation, a rehabilitation centre for the psychologically ill and emotionally disturbed and President of Rotary Club of Bombay North for the year 2007-08. His efforts span a gamut of social activities – from organizing/assisting in various health and medical care initiatives for the underprivileged to charitable events that provided them with free medicines, spectacles, artificial limbs & wheel chairs as well as yoga sessions for prisoners in the Mumbai and Pune Jails. GAURAV GANDHI

Director

A commerce graduate with a Masters of Business Administration from Boston University, Mr. Gandhi's young protégé has accumulated a wealth of experience in all of his 26 years. Before his MBA at the Boston University he did a stint with Citibank and was crucial to raising $800 million in an international fund for the HDFC Property Fund till as recently as January 2008. He is indeed a true value addition to the flourishing Essgee conglomerate.

Some closures are the onsets of new beginnings. Such is the pioneering tale of the Essgee Group. In 2000, Mr. Suresh Gandhi resigned as partner in the Kalpataru Group, a company he started his career with in 1972 and went on to establish the Essgee Group in 2001. Since then, there has been no looking back. Commencing the plethora of real estate development in India, which remains the Group's primary business, the Essgee Group has, over the last few years expanded its business interests to include Power, Mining and Commodities. Today, the Essgee Group is spearheading its fast-paced growth and is also a proud equity partner with the Urban Infrastructure Opportunities Fund (UIOF) promoted by Shri Anand Jain in one of the projects .

One of the first real estate companies to conceive and develop a 110-acre township, the Essgee Group is backed by 36 splendid years of insight and expertise – experience Mr. Gandhi gained from almost 4 decades of successful project implementation and land acquisition – nationally and in the Middle East.

After Essgee had realized its ambitions to successfully throne their own construction company, the visionary group decided to spread his sights to other avenues. And was highly successful at that as well. While, real estate still remains the flagship business, the other investments are extremely promising and are growing at a fast pace.

Today, the Essgee Group has a Wind Power facility that generates over 21.60 mega watts per annum. Following this venture was the Mining and Commodities Industries – an initiative that is proven to be worth its while.

POWER

Having created a niche for themselves in the realty and development space, Essgee decided to venture into generation of power by promoting non-conventional sources of energy and to reduce emissions. Thus was born a wind power installation in Maharashtra’s Sangli and Dhule District – that generates over 21.60-mega watts wind power per annum.

MINING

Essgee set foot into mining Lakha stone and established this facility to meet the advancing boom in the infrastructure and construction business. Today, with expansive mines in Jaislamer, Rajasthan (India), it is one of the premier suppliers of this widely used, bright red granite stone to a wide spectrum of builders, architects and interior designers.
